Serving the LGBTQI+ Community
When I was employed in the legal sector, there was only a slight emergence of same-sex or diverse types of families seeking legal assistance for family law disputes. At that time, the law primarily recognised families as being a man, a woman, and a child. There were very few provisions for same-sex couples with children, nor there were barely any considerations for donor and surrogacy rights.
One of the main reasons I founded Families in Practice was because through my experience of working in the fertility sector, I witnessed how mixing love and science gives everyone the opportunity to create their own diverse family. Today, families can look however we want them to: same-sex parents, single parents, donor/surrogate arrangements, transgender parents, and pet parents. I noticed from my legal experience, that the law was not evolving as quickly as these emerging family structures. This disparity drove my passion for creating a service that embraces everyone and recognises families of all types.
At Families in Practice, I am committed to making my services accessible to all families, regardless of their configuration. I believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to be heard and make informed decisions about their family matters without feeling judged. My goal is to provide a supportive environment where all my clients feel understood and respected.
Understanding and empathy are at the core of my approach - I strive to listen to your story, how your family was created and recognise the unique roles and traditions that define your family. At Families in Practice, I aim to create a future where every family feels valued, heard, and empowered to be happy.
